Rachel Weisz es hija de George Weisz, inventor de procedencia húngara, y de Ruth Weisz, psicoanalista de origen austríaco.
Comenzó su andadura interpretativa en el teatro cuando estaba estudiando inglés en la Universidad de Cambridge. Poco después comenzó a actuar en el West End, trabajando también como modelo.
Tras intervenir en la serie “The Scarlett and The Black” y en varios telefilmes a comienzos de la década de los 90, Rachel dio inicio a su carrera cinematográfica en 1995 al aparecer en “Death Machine: Máquina Letal” (1995), un título de ciencia-ficción rodado por Stephen Norrington.
La actriz británica alcanzaría la notoriedad gracias a la película de Bernardo Bertolucci "Belleza robada" (1996). Con "La momia" (1999), film co-protagonizado por Brendan Fraser, Rachel consiguió el estrellato. Fue novia de los actores Neil Morrissey y Alessandro Nivola, con el que coincidió en "I want you", y del director de cine Sam Mendes. Por su interpretación en "El jardinero fiel" (2005), Rachel lograría un Globo de Oro y un Oscar como mejor actriz secundaria. |
